Delicious low-fat smoothies using fruit, yogurt, milk, peanut butter, cocoa and even honey! These smoothies are so good you won't believe they're healthy!

Whether you are on a diet or just looking for a quick and delicious breakfast, smoothies are always a hit. They are quick and easy, and perfect for an on-the-go healthy breakfast. You can make one each morning before work, or make a blender full and put them into individual freezer cups for the week.

For a basic smoothie, just blend a frozen banana (or handful of ice) with your favorite fruit, yogurt and milk. Some great additives are honey, cocoa powder or sugar-free chocolate syrup, peanut butter, flax seed and protein powder. Smoothies are so versatile and really great for a healthy breakfast. And don't forget you can add veggies too!

If you're wondering why frozen bananas are in nearly every smoothie, it is because that takes place of the ice. If you have enough frozen fruit in your smoothie, you don't need to add extra ice unless you want to add some thickness to it.

Tips for keeping the calories low:

  • Use Fat-Free, Skim or Almond Milk as opposed to the full fat variety.
  • In place of regular yogurt, try a 0% Greek Yogurt like Fage or Chobani.
  • Either skip the juice or find a sugar-free kind.
  • Use twice the amount of fruit than the amount of dairy products.
  • Skip the dairy altogether and use extra fruit and ice, with a little sugar-free juice.
